“The Importance of Ancillary Care”
Ancillary care refers to the wide range of healthcare services to support the work of a primary care physician.  The collaborative approach of Ancillary and Primary care to narrow the scope of differentials to identify diagnoses can support improved health outcomes. For most older adults, care needs include preventive services (including lifestyle modification) and coordinated treatment of chronic and acute health conditions.
To illustrate the importance of ancillary care in the comprehensive approach to health care delivery, our conversation will focus on fall risk management and diabetes management, and the importance of podiatry, optometry, and audiology in elder care.
