The Virginia Assisted Living Association (VALA) actively strengthens relationships with pertinent governmental (federal, state, and county) departments, agencies and legislative bodies for the purpose of working with them in a positive manner to promote Virginia’s assisted living industry.

The Workforce Development Committee is responsible for reviewing current workforce requirements and opportunities that impact Virginia's assisted living industry. The committee will make recommendations on how VALA can positively influence requirements and on programs that VALA could implement or support to improve workforce issues. 

At this meeting, we will discuss current workforce dilemmas and opportunities for assisted living providers. We will also brainstorm solutions that we could implement or request to be implemented from the appropriate sources. As part of the VALA Regional Discussions with Legislators we are holding throughout the Commonwealth, we have the opportunity to provide concrete next steps to legislators, Department of Labor representatives, and other agency representatives. We ask participants to come prepared to the committee meeting with information and ideas of potential solutions.
