“Physiatry in Post-acute Rehab in the Age of COVID-19”

This panel discussion will focus on the role of physiatrists (physicians specializing in rehab) and telerehab to enhance and restore functional ability and improve outcomes for those with physical or cognitive impairments or disabilities. These patients/residents in rehab and skilled nursing centers may include “long haulers” – those with post-COVID-19-related physical, cognitive and emotional issues including post-intensive care syndrome (pics), a type of post-traumatic stress.

Special Guest Panelists: Glen Rundell, Deborah Oranchak, D.O., & Gary Jones

Glen Rundell, CEO of National Physiatry, has many years of healthcare experience and has always been an innovator looking to improve existing conditions and patient care.
A consummate entrepreneur who also held top positions at several other companies, he founded National Physiatry to improve the rehab process for sub-acute, post-op patients. Glen currently is leading enhancements to the company’s telerehabilitation program and spearheading a secondary data collection pilot program supporting the successful use of telerehab and physiatry with post-acute and skilled nursing patients/residents.
Deborah Oranchak, D.O., is a board-certified specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with 18 years of clinical experience. She enjoys working in the post-acute setting, in conjunction with the primary medical team and therapy staff, to help coordinate patient care and discharge planning.
Dr. Oranchak has an interest in non-narcotic pain management and the use of modalities in order to relieve discomfort. Her goal is to assist in the prevention of hospital re-admissions and improve patient outcomes for individuals who are recovering from illness or injury.
Gary Jones, General Manager of Customer Experience at vcpi, manages all customer-facing activities including sales, account management and marketing. He also supports the company’s sales efforts and creates thought leadership content regarding the Long-Term Post-Acute Care industry. Gary joined vcpi as Vice President of Sales in 2019, working closely with senior leadership to expand partnership networks and client relationships. Prior to vcpi, he was VP of Sales and Marketing at RCare Inc., an e-call provider in the senior living space. Vcpi is a primary telehealth
provider with National Physiatry.
Moderator: Cheryl Slavinsky, Vice President of National Physiatry, has consulted with senior living organizations for more than 20 years. With experience in healthcare, social and aging services, she collaborates with rehab and marketing teams to differentiate their services from competitors through education to increase referrals and improve census. Previously Editor of Senior Living News, Senior Public Relations Strategist at Varsity, and Public Relations Director at Rite Aid, she also served in top PR positions in the corporate and non-profit sectors, as well as several advertising/PR firms.

National Physiatry is a full-service, team-approach, practice management company providing dedicated physiatrists (physicians specializing in rehab) and customized restorative programs at little to no cost to rehab and skilled nursing centers. National Physiatry’s Physician-Led Rehab Program® provides many services to reduce
rehospitalizations and improve overall rehab effectiveness and doctor life/work balance. Using a combination of face-to- face and telerehab care, physiatrists work to optimize patient-centered treatment plans, continuity of care and outcomes—maximizing patients’ mobility and independence in activities of daily living. Physiatrists also increase customer satisfaction, referrals and census by improving communication between families and primary care physicians, as well as clinical care and administrative teams.
