VALA - AL Industry Workforce Development Discussion
Date(s): November 19, 2020
Time: 3:00 PM EST - 4:00 PM EST
During a recent press conference, Governor Northam mentioned the State was going to help with retraining programs to help get people back to work. In knowing workforce development continues to be a challenge for Virginia’s assisted living industry, VALA will be contacting Megan Healy, Chief Workforce Advisor to the Governor, about the opportunity for us to participate in their efforts and for ALFs to help serve as placement locations for potential employees. We invite you to participate in a conference call to discuss current workforce shortage areas and ideas.
Please be prepared to discuss the below listed topics. Additional topics may be sent to Judy Hackler at VALA, jhackler@valainfo.org, to be included on the final discussion agenda.
- Staffing positions experiencing significant shortages (For example: CNAs, RMAs, Dietary, Housekeepers, etc.)
- Staffing positions experiencing minor shortages
- Staffing positions with an abundance of applicants
- Biggest workforce dilemma experienced by ALFs
- Recommendations for improvement
- Training programs: For specific staff positions, Cost restrictions, etc.
- Potential Regulatory Changes
- Any other Workforce Development topic
If you know of someone else that would be a great asset for this conversation, then please send their contact information to VALA to invite them to participate.
Only VALA members may participate in the discussion. All participants must pre-register. Please contact VALA if you need assistance with membership verification or logging into the website.
