AIT & Preceptor Training

In 2013, The National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB) in partnership with the American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA) recognized a need within the industry for trained preceptors to develop future leaders in Long Term Care. During this time, a joint task force was formed to determine the resources needed to accomplish this goal.

NAB benefits its various stakeholders with health services and supports in several significant ways:

  • State Boards and Agencies
  • Licensees and Licensee Candidates
  • Academic Institutions
  • Continuing Education Providers
  • The Public

Volunteers from all aspects of the long term care industry worked together to form the NAB/ACHCA Administrator in Training manual as well as the four part digital Preceptor training course.

National Administrator In Training Program

The Adminsistrator-in-Training (AIT) Program is a supervised internship during which the AIT works under the guidance and supervision of a preceptor, who is a licensed administrator meeting the qualifications established for preceptors by their respective states. The internship is a unique phase of education consisting of the supervised practice of long term care administration in the Nursing Home (NHA), Assisted Living (RCAL), and/or Home and Community Based Services (HCBCS) environment.

On-Line Preceptor Training Program

The role of the preceptor is very important as Administrators-in-Training will become the leaders of tomorrow, and it is both our responsibility and our privilege to provide these new entrants the best start in a dynamic and challenging career.

You can access these two training programs by visiting the NAB or ACHCA websites at www.nabweb.org or www.achca.org
